Medical Weight Management

GP-Led, Personalised Support for Safe and Sustainable Weight Loss

At Peninsula Private Medical, our medical weight management programme combines expert clinical care with practical lifestyle support. We offer longer, unhurried appointments, regular reviews, and optional access to nutrition, fitness, and wellbeing professionals helping you reach and maintain a healthy weight safely.

What to Expect

1. Initial GP Assessment – £199

Your first appointment includes:

  • A detailed consultation with one of our GPs to discuss your goals, medical history, and previous experiences with weight loss.

  • A physical assessment, including weight, BMI, waist measurement, and blood pressure.

  • Baseline blood tests to check your general health before starting any treatment.

  • Discussion of options — including whether a prescription treatment is clinically appropriate for you.

  • A personalised plan covering lifestyle, nutrition, and physical activity.

If medication is suitable, your GP can issue a private prescription for an appropriate, licensed treatment. The prescription can be sent to a local or partner pharmacy, or arranged for home delivery. (Medication costs are charged separately.)

2. Titration Phase – £65 per month

During the first few months, you’ll have monthly check-ins with your GP.

These short appointments are designed to:

  • Monitor your progress and wellbeing.

  • Adjust your treatment dose as needed.

  • Address side-effects and ensure safety.

  • Keep you motivated and supported as your body adapts.

3. Maintenance Phase – £65 every 3–6 months

Once your dose and routine are stable, we’ll move to less frequent monitoring.

We’ll review your progress, repeat key health checks when needed, and support you to maintain healthy habits long-term.

Additional Support

To help you make lasting lifestyle changes, we also offer access to our in-house team:

  • Nutrition Therapist – to guide healthy eating and portion control.

  • Personal Trainer – to build confidence in physical activity.

  • Counsellors – to explore motivation, mindset, and emotional triggers.

You can add individual sessions or choose a package that combines professional support alongside your medical care.

Who the Service Is For

Our programme is suitable for adults who:

  • Have a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 or above with a weight-related condition (such as high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, pre-diabetes, or sleep apnoea).

  • Are ready to make positive lifestyle changes.

  • Are not pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Do not have an active eating disorder or other contraindications (your GP will assess this in detail).

We align with NICE guidance to ensure all treatments are used safely and appropriately.

Safety and Monitoring

Your safety is our priority.

We’ll explain how to manage any common side-effects (such as mild nausea, constipation or fatigue) and advise you when to seek medical attention.

You’ll also receive guidance on:

  • Staying hydrated and maintaining a balanced diet.

  • When to pause medication before surgery or sedation.

  • Recognising warning signs such as persistent vomiting or severe abdominal pain.
